The China Beijing International Cultural and Creative Industry Expo (ICCIE), an international gala of the cultural and creative industry organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Beijing Sub-Council (CCPIT Beijing), was launched with the approval of Ministry of Culture, PRC, State General Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, The People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, involving efforts of 28 Beijing municipal government commissions, offices and bureaus including the Publicity Department of the Beijing CPC Municipal Committee.

 
The ICCIE is committed to the implementation of the guiding philosophy and the overall plan of the CPC Central Committee on cultural reform and development and the requirement of pursuing scientific development and accelerating the transformation of development model, aiming to present a comprehensive picture of China' s achievements in deepening the reform of cultural sector, putting in place a modern cultural market system and promoting the development of emerging cultural industries. It will facilitate the in-depth exchange of leading theories and thinkings on the development of the cultural and creative industry and build a platform for marketization of cultural products and creativity and promote the growth of cultural trade and the successful implementation of major projects in China. It thus plays an important role in the adjustment and upgrading of the economic structure and accelerating the formation of an innovation-driven development model in China.
 
A regular event in Beijing every November, the ICCIE is committed to presenting a splendid, market- and standard-based expo up to highest international and professional standards. Since its inception in 2006, five expos have been successfully hosted with fruitful results. According to inconclusive statistics, the previous seven expos have attracted more than 6,000 overseas professional visitors from more than 320 governmental and non-governmental delegations from over 90 countries and regions as well as international organizations such as the United Nations, the European Union, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and the International Animated Film Association (ASIFA). 300 high-ranking officials of international organizations, leading officials of cultural and creative industry authorities of various countries as well as world-renowned experts, scholars and entrepreneurs addressed meetings at the expos. Delegations of 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities from the mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan also attended various activities at the expos. At the previous six expos, 2,564 agreements and intent of cooperation were signed with a total value of RMB177.7 billion yuan.
 
The 8th ICCIE will be held in Beijing from 6 to 10 Novemember 2013. The program includes six major sections-general activities, exhibitions, special sessions, summit forums, business promotion and creative activities. The opening ceremony was held in the National Stadium. The China International Exhibition Center will be the main exhibition venue, with 15 themed exhibition sections covering a floor space of 55,000 m2 . The exhibition will be running from 7 to 10 November 2013. There will also be 12 special sessions, 6 summit forums, 15 business promotional sessions and 15 creative activities.
