广东以色列理工学院于2016年由中国教育部批准正式设立，是我国第一所引进 以色列优质高等教育资源的具有独立法人资格的中外合作大学。其建设得到两国政 府的高度重视，以及广东省、汕头市人民政府和李嘉诚基金会的全力支持。以色列 理工学院Technion是百年名校，由爱因斯坦亲自提议建设，被誉为以色列的麻省理 工学院，是欧洲卓越理工大学联盟的成员之一。学校基础研究和应用研究并重，21 世纪以来3次荣获诺贝尔奖。广东以色列理工学院依托Technion的优质教育资源和 创新教育思维，采用全英文教学，致力于培养具有创新能力、全球视野和人文素养 的卓越工程师和科技人才，打造具有国际高水平教育科研和创新能力的研究型大 学。2018年，学校被列入广东省“高水平大学建设计划”，成为入选该项计划的最 年轻的高校。学校现任校长为中国科学院院士、科技部重大科学研究计划首席科学 家龚新高教授。常务副校长为国际知名纳米物理学家David Gershoni教授。学校目 前开设化学工程、生物技术与食品工程、材料科学与工程、数学与计算机科学、机 械工程与机器人、化学、物理、环境科学与工程等高水平学科。  GTIIT was officially established in 2016, marking the first Sino-foreign university  with independent legal status to introduce Israel's high-quality higher education  resources. Its establishment received high-level attention from both governments,  support from the Guangdong and Shantou Government, and the Li Ka Shing Foundation. Technion, was proposed by Albert Einstein and is renowned as the "MIT  of Israel." The university emphasizes fundamental and applied research, having won  3 Nobel Prizes since the 21st century.Leveraging Technion's high-quality educational  resources and innovative teaching approaches, GTIIT is committed to cultivating  engineers and talents with innovative capabilities, a global perspective, and  humanistic qualities. The university aims to become a research-oriented institution  with internationally advanced educational, scientific, and innovative capabilities. The  current chancellor is Prof. Gong Xingao, academician of the Chinese Academy of  Sciences.
